Dear Friends of sTREga!

Get ready for our next wonderful Spring recital! Although this time it will be only the two Streghine (Erika and Ewa), we promise you won’t regret devoting the lovely Sunday afternoon of April 29 to music and to sTREga. Spring has come, and bells of music and joy are ringing: Spring Campanelle! We will delight you with probably the most famous musical bells (campanelle) of Liszt and Kreisler, and we will top it with the two gorgeous violin sonatas by good old masters: Beethoven and Brahms. What can be better for a beautiful spring afternoon than some sweet classy music in a lovely place? We will be performing for you at our dear Gallery 345 in Toronto, and we will enjoy music, spring and flowers together with you. Bring your dear ones, bring your children, friends and families, and meet Duo sTREga in Roncesvalles neighbourhood in less than two weeks!
Please mark your calendars: Sunday, April 29 2012, 3:00 PM; Gallery 345, 345 Sorauren Ave, Toronto. With an asterisk for: "IMPORTANT"!

Love,
Streghine

Hello all sTREga friends and fans!

once again, we're getting ready for a wonderful concert which will happen in a very short time. For this special concert we're back at the beautiful Heliconian Hall, if you're not familiar with the place, here is their website. The concert will take place on Wednesday the 2nd of November and will start at 7:30pm.
Kasia will be in town for only a few weeks, so we're taking full advantage of her presence and will have two trios (Milhaud and Schoenfield) as well as the Debussy's Premiere Rhapsodie for clarinet and piano. Ewa and Erika will perform Brahms' first violin sonata, one of the most beautiful Romantic sonatas for violin and piano, while Erika will perform two short brilliant pieces for piano solo (Rachmaninov's Moment musicaux and Ravel's Toccata).

We hope to see you there!

sTREga is very excited to go to Italy this summer!

Kasia and Erika (Ewa couldn't come this year, but hopefully next!) have been invited to participate to the Chamber Music Festival Incontri di Canna, in Southern Italy. Every year TSO cellist Bill Findlay organizes there a three-week festival, inviting musicians from all over the world to concentrate on small chamber ensembles, performing several concerts every week in this beautiful little town in Calabria.
Among the musical projects, we're particularly looking forward to perform Messiaen's mystical Quartet for the End of Time. More news will come hopefully from there!

Un bacione,
Streghine

Dear Friends,

We would like to welcome this beautiful weather with a new sTREga recital and we hope you can keep the date free. On May 28th, at 7:30 pm, Trio sTREga will return to the welcoming Gallery 345, near Roncesvalles and Dundas West with the lovely Dance in the Sky recital.

The program is somewhat sprightly, energized by some beautiful, and very diversified approaches to dance by composers such as Liszt, Ravel, Bernstein and Paul Schoenfield. We will present also Kevin Lau's trio, To the Edge of the Sky, which we commissioned and premiered this past January. We'll also present a beautiful short work by Italian composer Mario Pagotto, for violin and piano, Il volo del Pettirosso (The Flight of the Robin).

The Gallery 345 doesn't have easy parking spaces around it, so please make sure to give yourself some extra time, in case you are planning on driving there. Tickets are $20/15/10

We can't wait to see you all there,
Yours,

Streghine

Dear Friends,

We are getting ready for our next performances in Toronto! This time we are very excited to move to the new venue: Gallery 345, located south of Dundas West St. (one block east of Roncesvalles) on the west side of Toronto. Please mark your calendars for Sunday April 10 (3:00 pm) and Saturday May 28 (8:00 pm). At the first concert we will treat you with some pieces by the great composers: W.A. Mozart, J.Brahms and L.van Beethoven, together with the trios by Bartók and Khachaturian. The second program (in May) will be even lighter, with the works by L.Bernstein, M.Ravel, F.Liszt, P. Schoenfield. Gorgeous music not to be missed!

We hope to see you there,
Yours,

Streghine

Dear Friends,

We are only now recuperating from the excited state that the New Music Festival at UofT left us in!

The Festival was just over one week long and featured all sorts of new works, experimental works, traditional works, as well as professors, students and special guests (like US!) performing and lecturing.
We felt very welcomed and enjoyed every second of it. We presented a mixture of new trios (a splendid new trio written for us by Kevin Lau), something from our standard repertoire (our beloved Stravinsky's Soldier's Tale) as well as some solos (Ewa performed a beautiful piece by Ryan Purchase inspired by Hiroshige's colourful woodcuts of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō; while Erika presented Chan Ka Nin's Majestic Flair and Gary Kulesha's Aphorisms), as well as two pieces by the guest composer of the Festival, Chen Yi. We were very lucky to have her attending our rehearsals and concert: she was full of energy and of enthusiasm for Kasia's performance of her Chinese Dances. We also had a beautiful cellist, David Hetherington, joining us for a performance of Chen Yi's Romance of Hsiao and Chin.
Our wonderful friend and director of the New Music Festival, Prof. Norbert Palej, overdid himself in the organization of this event: he made sure that everyone was given the opportunity to perform in the best environment and give his/her best.
One more level of excitement was added by the interest that OMNI TV demonstrated for Trio sTREga in this occasion. The Polish section of OMNI TV decided to feature our group, recording part of our rehearsal and our show, as well as including individual interviews with each one of us. Kasia was able to upload the whole show on youtube for everyone to enjoy, so please do so, if you haven't already, by going to their website. You can also see the reportage on our website, under our audio/video link.
We're finalizing the dates of our next two concerts, we won't fail to warn you in time, so see you very soon.
As usual, we are indebted to so many of you for your continuous and renewed support, THANKS!

Yours,

Streghine
