Dear Friends,

sTREga has decided to take the weather into her own hands - literally - we decided it is time for Spring to come! We have organized a performance of wonderfully bright, sprightly, and Springly works for you to enjoy and to welcome together this much awaited Spring.

Beethoven's Spring Violin Sonata, of course, is at the core of such program. It will be accompanied by the passionate, restless, and at moments pastoral Schumann Violin Sonata in A minor, a work full of this very essence of life that is recreated each Spring. These major works will be framed by some beautifully flowing and "watery" solo piano pieces by Ravel: his Prelude, Toccata, and Jeux d'eau, as well as Wieniawski's virtuosic Violin Polonaise in D Major.

We are extremely proud to support with our event a wonderful organization and a great cause: AboutFace (www.aboutface.ca). In particular, we want to join forces with its latest project: a fund raiser for the Becky Thomson Hope Fund.

Please join us on Sunday, May 5th, at 7.30pm at the West Hall Theatre (Trinity Presbyterian Church), 2737 Bayview Avenue. Tickets are $25/20 (seniors, students)

Love,
Streghine

Dear Friends!

We have just finished our exciting Italian summer experience. Although we planned to be there as a Trio, unfortunately it didn't work and so we had two recitals in Rome with the two currently-European Streghine: Kasia and Erika. We performed in Teatro di Marcello in Rome, as a part of Concerti del Tempietto concert series and we loved it. We hope to play there again some time, it would be fun! below you can see the posters of our two recitals, with the pieces we performed. All the great music you can imagine.

Before that, Kasia was also again a part of XVIII Incontri di Canna Chamber Music Festival in Calabria, enjoying playing chamber music with great international musicians, in a land of sun and olive trees. Italia is beautiful!

Love,
Streghine

Dear Friends of sTREga!

Get ready for our next wonderful Spring recital! Although this time it will be only the two Streghine (Erika and Ewa), we promise you won’t regret devoting the lovely Sunday afternoon of April 29 to music and to sTREga. Spring has come, and bells of music and joy are ringing: Spring Campanelle! We will delight you with probably the most famous musical bells (campanelle) of Liszt and Kreisler, and we will top it with the two gorgeous violin sonatas by good old masters: Beethoven and Brahms. What can be better for a beautiful spring afternoon than some sweet classy music in a lovely place? We will be performing for you at our dear Gallery 345 in Toronto, and we will enjoy music, spring and flowers together with you. Bring your dear ones, bring your children, friends and families, and meet Duo sTREga in Roncesvalles neighbourhood in less than two weeks!
Please mark your calendars: Sunday, April 29 2012, 3:00 PM; Gallery 345, 345 Sorauren Ave, Toronto. With an asterisk for: "IMPORTANT"!

Love,
Streghine

Hello all sTREga friends and fans!

once again, we're getting ready for a wonderful concert which will happen in a very short time. For this special concert we're back at the beautiful Heliconian Hall, if you're not familiar with the place, here is their website. The concert will take place on Wednesday the 2nd of November and will start at 7:30pm.
Kasia will be in town for only a few weeks, so we're taking full advantage of her presence and will have two trios (Milhaud and Schoenfield) as well as the Debussy's Premiere Rhapsodie for clarinet and piano. Ewa and Erika will perform Brahms' first violin sonata, one of the most beautiful Romantic sonatas for violin and piano, while Erika will perform two short brilliant pieces for piano solo (Rachmaninov's Moment musicaux and Ravel's Toccata).

We hope to see you there!

sTREga is very excited to go to Italy this summer!

Kasia and Erika (Ewa couldn't come this year, but hopefully next!) have been invited to participate to the Chamber Music Festival Incontri di Canna, in Southern Italy. Every year TSO cellist Bill Findlay organizes there a three-week festival, inviting musicians from all over the world to concentrate on small chamber ensembles, performing several concerts every week in this beautiful little town in Calabria.
Among the musical projects, we're particularly looking forward to perform Messiaen's mystical Quartet for the End of Time. More news will come hopefully from there!

Un bacione,
Streghine

Dear Friends,

We would like to welcome this beautiful weather with a new sTREga recital and we hope you can keep the date free. On May 28th, at 7:30 pm, Trio sTREga will return to the welcoming Gallery 345, near Roncesvalles and Dundas West with the lovely Dance in the Sky recital.

The program is somewhat sprightly, energized by some beautiful, and very diversified approaches to dance by composers such as Liszt, Ravel, Bernstein and Paul Schoenfield. We will present also Kevin Lau's trio, To the Edge of the Sky, which we commissioned and premiered this past January. We'll also present a beautiful short work by Italian composer Mario Pagotto, for violin and piano, Il volo del Pettirosso (The Flight of the Robin).

The Gallery 345 doesn't have easy parking spaces around it, so please make sure to give yourself some extra time, in case you are planning on driving there. Tickets are $20/15/10

We can't wait to see you all there,
Yours,

Streghine
